If acquiring power is extremely difficult giving it up once
you have is impossible. Because power is
like pornography it
exercises a decisive influence
on the mind and hormones
But while pornography
lies merely in the groins of the beholder, power infuses every cell, generating an
energy in those who exercise it, brightening up the
eye, quickening the blood,
intoxicating the soul. Most of all it creates delusions of grandeur
and whips up a compelling desire to manipulate people and situations
Politics is the art of acquiring, holding and wielding
power.
Good
politician has to have an ear finely turned to the masters voice, a mind
as blank as sheet of paper and rump that can
respond like that of buffaloes to the prodding
of the masters switch. It also demands
an obliteration of ego, an ability to firmly resist any flicker of ambition
and above all the capacity to display
the greatest sensitivities of the
leader.
