Multitasking Add up to Inefficiency

Multitasking could impair cognitive control.  People  who  multitask  are  bad  at concentrating,  cannot  filter out  unimportant  details  from the  flow  of information.  Are easily disturbed by un important things and works slowly.  Human brain cannot process more than one string   of information at a time.  It even lowers IQ.

Multi tasking cannot  be  avoided  but it can  be reduced  or learned  to deal  with it smartly, following  are few  suggestions :-

            Limit distractions

Use electronic information devices only when necessarily
Allot specific time slot for visiting inbox, attending phone calls etc.
Inform people not to disturb when you are doing something important
Priority/urgent tasks to be done first

            To Do” List

            Prepare a “to do list”
Prioritize your task and allocate time.  Time slots should not overlap
Leave some time gap between each task

            Complete task

Complete task once you take it up
Do not deal with several tasks, doing a part of each in a phase

            Mix properly

If multitasking  unavoidable, pair  tasks  in a way  that one requires your  mental  ability  and the  other  doesn’t  require much of it

            Relax

Put some time to relax and rejuvenate your mind
Try to do more number of tasks that you enjoy doing

When you cannot avoid dealing with a monotonous job, do not multitask at any cost, till you finish doing it.
