Remote Workers

Concept of remote working is not the female employee’s prerogative these days.
Remote workers need to work in field and travel constantly, work at different corporate offices, at client location or just telecommunicate from the home in order to balance work and family.
Remote working has increased as both employees & employer are keen on reaping the benefits from these arrangements.
Employers are benefited from fiscal point of view (raising infra structure and real estate costs). Employers get away from the perils of daily commute and to have a better work life-balance.
Problem is that the remote worker always ends up feeling disconnected from colleagues in the office and feels lonely. The loss of daily human connection poses a challenge to sustain remote working. Therefore it is crucial to engage remote workers and have innovative ways to keep them motivated, engaged & connected.

STRATEGIES ON HOW TO REMOTE WORKERS CAN BE INTEGRATED INTO CORPORATE CULTURE

ESTABLISH CLEAR EXPECTATION:
Employee may feel lost due to lack of directions.
May feel left out in the feedback and important communication.
Managers must personalize the communication to suit every individual remote worker.
Managers must have in person meeting with the employee from the start and continue to follow up with regular mail, phone and video conference.

ANSWER-ABILITY & MEASUREMENT:
Remote workers are accountable for their work.
Managers need to evaluate their performance.
Offering feedback and staying on top of deliverable by reviewing work performed on time within budget.
Trust factor in offsite work.
What counts the amount of work that gets done and does not the manner in which it is performed.

MAXIMIZE THE USE OF TECHNOLOGY:
Stay connected and progress in career.
Setup high speed board hand access at home office or elsewhere.
