HOW TO SELL IDEAS TO DECISION MAKERS



·         Influencing people in power and winning them over is like marketing a product to a customer.
·         The responsibility to sell is yours and the option to buy it, is theirs.

·         Sell the premise

·         Make a great case for your idea

·         Frame the arguments from the point of view of the decision makers in the company.

·         Convince the decision makers of the need for your idea by answering following questions

Ø  Why should your idea matter to the business organization..?
Ø  What are the benefits it brings…?
Ø  What will the organization lose by not implementing it.

·         Present right                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     

·         Present it in the form they can understand.

·         Keep it simple

·         Give factual proof and accurate information

·         Present in well defined manner will clearly spelt out recommendations.

·         Leave nothing to chance

·         Evaluate proposal from the point of view of the decision makers.

·         Plug any gaps to ensure acceptance of the proposal

·         Look at how you can align interests and get more people to support your case.

·         Convince others how they will get benefitted.

·         Use different strategies to get different people on board. Lobbying and quid-pro-quo are part of process of influencing decisions, as long as within the ambit of ethics and law.

        Time it well
·         Wait until sure of getting support of key people.
·         Plan, strategies and time your actions with sagacity.
